Tourism Tropical North Queensland appoints Audience Group to boost domestic tourism

Tourism Tropical North Queensland has appointed full service media agency Audience Group to its digital marketing.

Audience Group will be responsible for developing a campaign that will boost tourism numbers from the east coast of the Australia after the recent flooding.

James McDonald, director of the Audience Group

Tourism in tropical north Queensland is the largest industry in the region, supporting one in five jobs and providing 18% of the gross regional product.

Media coverage of the floods has led to the region struggling with lower domestic visitor numbers, with residents in the south-east of Australia incorrectly believing the whole north Queensland region being affected.

Director of Audience Group, James McDonald, said in a statement: “Autumn weather will soon have many Australians dreaming of holidays in the sun, if they’re not already planning a getaway to somewhere warm.

“Tropical Tourism North Queensland in partnership with Tourism and Events QLD has selected Audience Group to develop and implement a nine-month digital, search, social and media program focused on the Eastern Seaboard.

“Our ability to help identify which audiences have a greater immediate prosperity to visit the region, find them and make sure their dreams and plans are for FNQ was key to our appointment.”
