Tourism Victoria appoints OBM Advertising as fast turn-around agency

Tourism Victoria has appointed Melbourne-based OBM Advertising to handle fast turn-around work after a pitch that involved almost 50 contenders.

The agency of 27 staff, which also has an office in Brisbane, lands a contract that will initially run for four years, starting January 1 2012.

According to a statement from Tourism Victoria, OBM Advertising will handle projects that are “boutique in scope, cost-effective and require fast turn-around times.”

The news comes four months after the tourism body awarded its big brand business to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, ending an 18-year relationship with Publicis Mojo.

Tourism Victoria chairman Dr Janine Kirk said in a statement:

Following an extensive and thorough tender process that involved three-stages of evaluation, OBM Advertising was appointed from a highly competitive field.

I am pleased OBM Advertising will be working with Tourism Victoria to further develop the award winning marketing strategies and campaigns that help support our state’s growing tourism industry.

With both the appointment of OBM Advertising and Clemenger BBDO to support Tourism Victoria and its partners, we make the most efficient use of both boutique and lead marketing agency capabilities and resources to further reinforce Victoria’s reputation as a leading tourism destination.

OBM Advertising boss Harry Corsham told Mumbrella: “This is a huge vote of endorsement from one of the most highly regarded marketing operations in Australia.”
