Don Burke to be quizzed over harassment claims in A Current Affair interview with Tracy Grimshaw

Nine’s A Current Affair will tonight broadcast the first interview with gardening guru Don Burke since a series of allegations of sexual harassment by him emerged this morning

After the accusations were published in today’s Fairfax Media publications and by the ABC, Burke sat down for an interview with ACA host Tracy Grimshaw.

The interview with the former Burke’s Backyard presenter will air at 7pm on Nine – the same channel which the program called home for the 17 years it was on air.

According to Nine, Grimshaw “grilled” Burke on the allegations that he was a “sexual predator” and a “psychotic bully” during filming of the gardening show, which aired from 1987 to 2004.

The allegations includes former female TV researchers who claim Burke repeatedly touched their breasts and attempted to remove their clothing while travelling around Australia for assignments.

A statement issued by Burke denied the allegations, claiming: “The bitter irony is that I have had a life-long opposition to sexism and misogyny. Burke’s Backyard was a lone bastion of anti-misogyny since its inception in 1987.”

The ABC will unveil further details of its investigations on its 7.30 program tonight.
