TV networks throw out schedules to cover NSW bushfire emergency.
The major TV networks have ditched normal programming in New South Wales to cover the state’s growing bushfire emergency.
Seven dropped Today Tonight in Sydney and switched to an hour long bulletin fronted by Mark Ferguson. 7Two will carry a further national news bulletin at 7pm.
Nine moved A Current Affair back by half an hour in Sydney and went for an hour long news bulletin fronted by Peter Overton. The broadcaster also has a national news bulletin on Gem at 7pm and will run a further news special at 10.30 on Nine.
ABC1 in NSW simulcast ABC News 24 from 5pm. ABC News 24 is also available live on YouTube, iView and online.
Sky News has also been delivering rolling coverage.
Update: The Sydney Morning Herald said that it was dropping its paywall during the emergency.
2UE in Sydney has had News Chief Clinton Maynard and Morning Host Paul Murray (also from Sky News) on air overnight covering the fires andf damage live. Paul Murray has been on the ground at different locations, with Clinton in the studio.
The coverage has been great and helpful for local communities that have a community FM station as the only local broadcaster.
