Seven takes lead with Highway Patrol as Nine’s Hostages sinks to lowest ratings yet

Highway PatrolChannel Seven regained its lead over Nine following The Ashes test as audiences tuned in for Highway Patrol and James Bond film The World is Not Enough as Nine’s Hostages fell to its lowest ratings yet, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.

Highway Patrol was the most-watched non-news program of the night recording 774,000 metro viewers and was third in people 25-54, helping Seven win a 21.3 per cent share of the audience as Nine’s fell to 16.2 per cent.

Meanwhile Nine’s Makeover Street Christmas Special, featuring renovations throughout a residential street and a street party, was fourth in its timeslot with an average 434,000 metro viewers.  

Nine’s Hostages dropped to fourth in the 9pm timeslot with 371,000 viewers as Seven’s Bond film averaged 521,000, ranking third in its timeslot after Ten’s Shrek and The Agony of Christmas which had 570,000 viewers on ABC1.

The World is Not Enough jumped to first in its timeslot at 9.30pm as ABC1 continued its Christmas lineup with Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Comedy Roadshow averaging 447,000, and Ten’s rating dropped to 274,000 for the Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder from 9.30pm.

Seven’s Sunrise won the breakfast battle with an average 330,000 metro viewers as Nine’s Today had 284,000.
