TV ratings: Bad news is good news for the networks

Division around the referendum, the breakout of war, and inclement weather events have seen news programming take the top six slots in last night’s free-to-air television ratings.

The Block, which managed to pull 574,000 across the five metro areas, and Home and Away, which drew 475,000, lead entertainment for the night.

The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition was the big winner for Ten (332,000), while perennial performer Hard Quiz drew 464,000 for ABC.

Seven won the night overall, with 29.5% audience share, compared to Nine’s 28%.
