TV ratings: Big Brother is watching, but is anyone else?

Nine has taken a competitive Monday night, with its news and current affairs audiences proving too loyal, despite strong showings by the other networks.

Australian Story, featuring the story of Libbi Gorr, drew 571,000 for the ABC, just pipping Have You Been Paying Attention, which pulled 567,000 for Ten.

As usual, The Chase and Home and Away performed for Seven, while the launch of Big Brother just snuck into the top 20 – not the best result for the show on an otherwise quiet Monday, especially when the crucial first few episodes are traditionally key in hooking audiences into a Big Brother season.

Overall, Nine took 26.4% of the overall audience, just beating Seven’s 25.2%. Ten drew 20.7%, beating ABC’s 20.2%.
