TV ratings: The Block provides a strong Monday night foundation for Nine

Channel Nine has won Monday night, a nice result on the same day that Seven declared the overall 2023 victory.

The Block continues to be a ratings draw for Nine, pulling 757,000 across the five capital cities. Interestingly, the audiences stick around through the news, but drift slightly during A Current Affair, before returning for The Block.

This drift is most likely in the form of a wave, which lifts viewers from Nine and lands them on the sunny shores of Summer Bay for their 7pm viewing over on Seven.

Aside from the hourly news block on Seven, Home and Away was the network’s biggest performer, seeing Seven land 26.8% market share, against Nine’s 30.3%.

ABC again topped Ten, pulling 18.5% of the audience share, compared to Ten’s 17.9%.

The shining light for Ten is the Working Dog stable. Have You Been Paying Attention was the only top ten placement last night, with Thank God You’re Here likely to do similar tomorrow night. Of course, this is also the team behind Utopia – a big performer in ABC’s original programming lineup this year.
