Viewers can’t watch Kevin Can Wait

Not a single TV show reached a metro audience above 1m on Tuesday night, as the free-to-air networks’ summer schedule sent viewers elsewhere.kevin-can-wait

Every one of the seven most watched programs of the night were news and current affairs, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTAM.

Seven News, which averaged 936,000 metro viewers from 6:00pm to 6:30pm, was the most watched program. Nine News averaged 839,000 in the same time slot.

However, in Sydney, Nine News came out on top, by 214,000 viewers to Seven News’ 200,000.

The top rating entertainment show was Home And Away on Seven, which rated 639,000, making it eighth on the night. Next was Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, also on Seven, which drew 531,000 viewers.

Ten’s best performing show was The Project, which rated 499,000.

In the key advertising demographic of 25-54, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares was the most watched show.

Nine’s doubles episodes of US sitcom Kevin Can Wait, starring Kevin James, was of little interest to Australian TV viewers, rating just 417,000 for one of the episodes. The second episode of Kevin Can Wait did even worse – attracting just 339,000 viewers.

Seven won the night with a share of 18.4%, followed by Nine on 16.3% and ABC on 12.6%. Ten was fourth with 11.9%.
