TV ratings wrap: Solid outing for launch of Hunted on Ten, Nine slips to third place

The new season of Network 10’s anticipated reality series Hunted got off to a solid start but was down on last year’s debut, while Nine slipped to third place overall last night.

Seven took the night, with a commanding 29.7% share of viewers, while Ten pipped Nine for second place, with 22.9% share compared to Nine’s 22.2%. ABC took a 17.2% market share.

Not surprisingly, The Chase Australia won the night for non-news content, drawing 580,000 metro viewers, with Dancing With The Stars also rating well for Seven, pulling 552,000 viewers across the five metro areas.

Hunted’s big launch was the top performer for Ten for the evening, drawing 524,000 viewers, and providing a solid lead-in for the perennial hit Have You Been Paying Attention, which had 516,000 metro viewers. Hunted’s metro figure was 16% down on last year’s launch.

Daniel Monaghan, Paramount ANZ’s senior vice president of content and programming, said: “Last night’s results show how eager audiences have been to see the return of Hunted, with the launch winning #1 show in under 50s and 25 to 54s.

“It was the #1 new show on TV last year and it looks like 2023 is going to be another fan-fuelled season as audiences lean into this ultimate game of cat and mouse where nine teams attempt to evade capture for 21 days.”
