TV ratings Wrap: Sonia Kruger takes the Gold Logie in surprise win; Seven tops the night

The 63rd Logies brought in 877,000 metro viewers for Seven on Sunday night, in the first year of the award’s return to the network.

The ceremony topped all three key advertising demos and won entertainment, while the red carpet coverage attracted 846,000 metro viewers.

Hosted by comedian Sam Pang, the ceremony dished out awards in 23 categories. Beating crowd favourite Hamish Blake, Dancing With the Stars co-host Sonia Kruger took the Gold Logie.

Australian TV legend Brian Walsh, who passed away earlier this year, was introduced to the Hall of Fame.

The audience number for the ceremony was a slight dip from 885,000 metro viewers on Nine last year. However, more metro viewers tuned in for the red carpet this year.

Session one on day four of the mid-year Ashes brought in 559,000 metro viewers on Nine, while Hunted on Ten aired to 322,000 metro viewers.

Seven Network won the night with a 41.7% share, followed by Nine with 29.4% and ABC with 11.4%.
