TV wrap: The Block tops ratings week and Sunday night; a win for Nine

Nine’s The Block has kicked off the week in the top spot for Sunday night’s programming, assisting the network to win overall share for the evening. The Block was the top-rating metro show in Total People last week at 971,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, Nine came out in front for the week ending beat Seven in the week ending 22 October, with a network share of 30.9%, over Seven’s 27.7%, while ABC finished the week with a 17.6% share, followed by Ten on 15.6%.

Nine also won the primary channel share for the week, with a 22.2% share, just beating out Seven’s 19.5%, while the top multi-channel for the week was 7TWO on 3.7%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 16 October, The Block on Sunday was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.760 million viewers, including 253,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 26%.

The program with the biggest uplift was an episode of ABC’s Silent Witness with an uplift of 54% and had a total of 505,000 viewers overall, and a BVOD audience of 54,000 nationally.

Looking again to Sunday’s overnights, Australia’s Got Talent on Seven came next in entertainment, bringing in 515,000 metro viewers, followed by ABC’s Inside the Opera House with 330,000, then The Disappearance of Grace Millane on Seven, with 264,000.

Last night also saw Ten’s new format, The Traitors, air to just  221,000 metro viewers.

In sports, The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on Nine had a metro audience of 248,000 metro views.

Meanwhile, Seven News won overall TV viewing on Sunday night with 1.085 million metro viewers, followed by Nine News with 736,000 metro viewers.60 Minutes brought in 567,000 metro views, and ABC News brought in 536,000.

As mentioned, Nine won the night, taking a significant overall network share of 40.8% over Seven’s 27.2%, while the ABC had a share of 13%, and Ten took an 11.8% share.

Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Sunday was 9Gem with a share of 8.3%.
