TV Wrap: The Block tops Sunday entertainment after Nine won the week

Nine’s The Block won entertainment on Sunday night while Seven won the night with the highest overall network share.

The Block brought in 961,000 metro viewers while also taking the top spot in advertising key demos, 18-49 and 25-54.

The 2021 Brownlow Medal which aired on Seven was next in entertainment and pulled in a metro audience of 889,000, also #1 in key advertising demo 16-39, followed by Nine’s 60 Minutes which saw 643,000 metro viewers tune in.

Ten’s The Masked Singer reveal pulled in 584,000 metro viewers after the full episode pulled in 494,000 metro viewers.

The #1 program on Sunday was Seven News, which had an average of 1.11 million metro viewers, ahead of Seven News at 6.30 with 1.028 million.

As mentioned, Seven won the night, taking an overall network share of 36.4% over Nine’s 28.8%, while Ten had 15% and ABC 13.3%. Seven won primary channel share while the top-rating multi-channel on Sunday was 7Mate with a share of 3.3%.

But Nine took the week ending 18 September with a tight network share win over Seven. Nine had 29.3%, ahead of Seven’s 29.1%, while Ten had 18.3% and ABC took 15.4%. Seven managed to win the primary channel share for the week though, with a 21.4% share ahead of Nine’s 20.8%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 12 September, The Voice Grand Final was the #1 program nationally across linear and BVOD television, with 2.287 million viewers including 166,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 13%.

The program with the biggest uplift however was an episode of ABC’s The Newsreader which had a 60% uplift on overnight figures and had a total of 967,000 viewers overall.
