Twitch hires Sandeep Suvarna as head of marketing for APAC region
Live-streaming platform Twitch has bolstered its marketing team, with Sandeep Suvarna coming on board as head of marketing for the APAC region.
In addition, Amy Potter has joined as a marketing specialist in Australia.
Suvarna, based in Singapore, joins from Fox Networks in Asia, where he was head of marketing and PR for Fox’s digital video streaming products, and helped launch Fox+. He was also the head of marketing for LinkedIn in India, and director of marketing for the platform across Asia Pacific and Japan.
Twitch’s senior vice president for APAC, Sunita Kaur, said Suvarna’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture for Twitch in the region.
“Twitch has helped connect people from across communities, markets and regions. Seeking shared experiences – some that may normally be realised in real life – more people have discovered Twitch to be a place where they can interact with communities and entertainment. With Sandeep on board, we look forward to broadening our services, and showcasing both our gaming and growing non-gaming content, to a greater number of users across the region,” Kaur said.
Suvarna, who will be charged with helping the platform grow its community, and improving it for content creators, media partners, agencies, advertisers, publishers and developers, added: “Twitch is redefining the way we think about entertainment and provides a point of connection for Millennials and members of Generation Z who visit the service to socialise with communities of like-minded individuals and creators. I am excited to be working in this rapidly growing region, and to engage with the burgeoning Twitch community in Asia Pacific.”
Twitch needs all the help they can get in the marketing department in Australia. They’re quickly gaining a reputation of being extremely difficult for advertisers to work with, with what can only be considered a sub-par product.
