Twitter’s Nathan Burman takes on head of communications role at Netflix
Streaming giant Netflix is further bolstering its presence in the region, appointing Twitter’s head of PR and communications, Nathan Burman, to the role of head of communications for ANZ.
Burman joined Twitter in 2014 after stints agency side at Crossman Communications, Pulse Communications and Senate SHJ.
Back in 2017, Twitter’s communications manager Maria Catanzariti departed to become PR manager for Airbnb in Australia and New Zealand. At the time, Twitter said Burman would then largely run Twitter’s brand communications, with additional assistance from its PR agency, Sling & Stone.
Stewart Russell, who has spent six years with Twitter in the UK, will be moving to Australia in October to fill the void left by Burman.
After an incredible 6 years @TwitterUK, I’m moving to Sydney to head up comms for Twitter in Australia & New Zealand!
Headed down under in mid October so you’re not getting rid of me quite yet. For now, please enjoy an appropriately staged photo of me embracing my new culture. pic.twitter.com/GgVv1YWyp1

Netflix and Burman declined to comment on the move.
Earlier this year, Netflix announced its plans to increase its on-the-ground presence in Australia, opening a local office and appointing more staff. It is understood the company was looking at office space for around 10 local employees.
Think all the info you need has been openly discussed on Twitter by the people in question.

To be honest I’m surprised by this appointment, Nathan has zero content experience.
