Uber Eats driver and soccer player Marcel Desailly persuades Andrea Pirlo to support Australia in World Cup

Italian soccer player Andrea Pirlo stars in food delivery service Uber Eats’ FIFA World Cup campaign with Australian soccer star Harry Kewell.

The video features retired French soccer player Marcel Desailly as he delivers food to former Socceroo Harry Kewell and Pirlo while Desailly and Kewell persuade Pirlo to support Australia in the world cup.

Uber Eats has partnered with McDonald’s’ McDelivery and includes Pirlo receiving a stuffed kangaroo.

The #TeamForPirlo campaign will also see players from around the world pitching their teams to Pirlo.

“It was great fun meeting Pirlo as he prepares to watch this summer’s footy as a fan. I hope I’ve encouraged him to join the best fans in the world and back the Socceroos.

“Andrea should take the opportunity to do something different this year and support an underdog, and there’s no better underdog than the Aussies. I fancy us to get past the group stages this year and anything can happen from there,” Kewell said in a statement.

Jodie Auster, general manager of Uber Eats for Australia and New Zealand, added: “We believe the Aussies have a real chance to get past the group stage this year, but they are going to need all the support they can get.

“With average delivery times around 30 minutes, fans can place an order before, during or after the game to enjoy everything from Grand Big Macs to McFlurry’s without leaving the sofa.”
