UM lands $23m AGL media account
UM has won the $23m media account for energy company AGL from incumbent agency McCann.
McCann won the AGL energy account in 2015 from Group M’s media agency Maxus.
Alison Wild, AGL”s general manager of product and marketing, said the energy provider was looking for an agency with technology and data expertise.
“After a very competitive pitch we are delighted to appoint UM and are looking forward to working with their team to deliver a successful media buying and planning service to meet our current and future advertising needs.”
Fiona Johnston, UM CEO, added: “AGL, as a business and people, are incredibly forward thinking. They are passionate and smart, and that is the best client to work with. Over this period, they have continued to share insight and vigor for doing the best they can, which is in the sweet spot of what we desire to do at UM.”
So McCann gave it to Universal McCann, just transferred it within the same group.

Not sure you’re up to speed but McCann and UM are completely separate now.
You’re correct that they’re both under the same holdings company – but so are Wavemaker and Ogilvy. This is definitely not just a ‘transfer’.
