Unilever’s first chief marketing officer to depart
Unilever’s first global chief marketing officer, Simon Clift, is set to leave after 30 years with the FMCG giant.
He will retire from his post in the next few months to spend more time with his family in Brazil and pursue “other creative opportunities”, according to a company spokesman.
Clift joined the company in 1982 and was appointed its first CMO. He helped developed high-profile global marketing campaigns for brands including Dove and Lynx.
His replacement is yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Nicole Sparshott, marketing director for Australia and New Zealand recently moved to a regional role in Asia within the FMCG company.
She has been replaced by Unilever’s European brand development director for stock cube brand Knorr, Ferry Kamp.
To be honest, this was a long-overdue departure. His anachronistic attitudes to advertising development were not compatible with an organisation that strives for competitive and effective advertising. Thank you Mr Clift – I look forward to an increase in the share price of Unilever!
