UnLtd launches virtual Backyard Trivia in a bid to boost the industry’s spirits

The industry’s social purpose organisation, UnLtd, has launched two initiatives aimed at keeping the industry connected and optimistic during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

One such initiative, Backyard Trivia, will be broadcast from CEO Chris Freel’s backyard on Thursdays at 4pm. Winners of the virtual competition “win a case of Corona (the beer kind)”, the organisation said.

“In these unprecedented times, we want to bring the industry together for a bit of light-hearted entertainment and healthy competition,” UnLtd said.

Interested participants can join the Zoom call here at 4pm on Thursday.

Freel, who will host from his backyard in Sydney’s Balmain, said the industry and the world as we know it had changed over the past few weeks. As such, the industry needs to band together, he said.

“Ordinarily, we would be doing this through our many events and social gatherings, but with that now on hold, we wanted to find a new way to bring our industry together,” he said. “I don’t know about anybody else, but I am already going mad being cooped up inside, so the chance to have 30 minutes out the back with the industry is very exciting.”

UnLtd’s second initiative is a content series titled #UnLtdGoodNews. It asks the industry to share their good deeds, funny work from home moments and isolation hacks on Instagram with the hashtag. The best content will be featured in a weekly newsletter.

“We challenge everyone in the industry to take part in spreading some good news by getting involved in our #UnLtdGoodNews initiative – I think we could all use a laugh at the moment,” Freel added.

CMO of UnLtd, Nina Nyman, added that at a time like this, the industry’s mental health would be front and centre of the organisation’s objectives and initiatives.

“The situation is putting incredible pressures and challenges not only on our charity partners, but to everyone in our industry,” she said. “Every single one of us has been impacted. We are working harder than ever on making sure we can support our charity partners through these tough times and we also want to be there to support our industry. We hope these new initiatives will go a small way towards helping our supporters and bringing a smile to everyone’s face.”
