UNSW Sydney reappoints Howatson and Co for three more years
UNSW Sydney has reappointed Howatson and Co as its media, creative, and production agency partner, following a competitive procurement process.
The partnership has been extended for another three years, Mumbrella understands.
In 2022, the agency won UNSW Sydney’s media account following a pitch process, where its responsibilities included both domestic and international recruitment. Then, in 2023, its remit was expanded to include creative and production duties, when the university decided to unify it into a “single operating model”.
Sofia Lloyd-Jones, executive director of marketing and digital experience at UNSW, described Howatson and Co as a “highly valued” partner.
“Their sector knowledge and future-focused approach to data and innovation has been invaluable to UNSW,” she said in a media release on Thursday.
Mumbrella also understands the procurement-led process was combined media and creative, consisting of four “groups” including Howatson and Co. Some agencies involved “teamed up” with others to offer the single operating model to the client.
Howatson and Co’s founder and CEO, Chris Howatson, said it’s a privilege to continue the partnership.
“Sofia and the team are driving an ambitious strategy and we cherish our role in bringing it to life in comms,” he said in the release.
Last year, UNSW Sydney launched a new brand platform via Howatson and Co, centred on the idea of collective progression. It reflected the university’s commitment to addressing social challenges that face students and society on a broader scale, and was designed to deliver a “message of hope”.
The agency’s chief media officer, Sasha Smith, said it was a highly successful campaign, and now she is “excited by what the future holds in this next chapter of our partnership”.
