Urban List takes the notorious ‘Sealed Section’ digital, with Lovehoney
Urban List and Lovehoney have partnered to launch their take on the notorious sealed section, enlisting Sydney-based sex therapist, Aleks Trkulja to spill sexual wellness secrets in an all-new digital, shoppable series live today.
Earlier this year lifestyle publisher Urban List conducted a research piece to better understand their audience’s thoughts and behaviours on sex and relationships and to understand what they want to see from the publisher. More than 3,500 readers participated in ‘The Vibe Check’ survey—all willing to share their sex, dating and relationship experiences.
The survey revealed that 34% felt there were not enough sex-ed resources out there and three out of four wanted to see more of this content specifically from the publisher. From there, Sealed Section, brought to you by Lovehoney was created: a modern guide to better sex and better intimate relations.
Author of the report, Urban List’s head of brand & culture, Sophia Wilcox told us that: “The Vibe Check uncovered intimate reader insights and that they wanted to see more on this topic from us. Remember the excitement you used to get from ripping the perforated edges off a magazine-sealed section, unlocking forbidden tips, tricks and must-tries? We did and that’s why we wanted to bring it back”. Wilcox added: ”We also understand the sensitive nature of this content so we have enlisted an expert to be our Sex Editor At Large.”
This person is Aleks Trkulja, a certified sex therapist and mental health counsellor who works with all gender and sexual identities. Based on Gadigal’s land in Sydney, her practice is sex-positive and founded within intersectional feminist and queer theories. Aleks shared that she is “thrilled to be producing sex-positive educational content with a progressive brand like Urban List and to be the sealed section sex editor at large. Normalising conversations around sex and intimacy is essential for sustainable relationships and a more inclusive society. I’m excited to share this content with their 3 million+ monthly readers.”
