Val Morgan Digital adds 8 to editorial and commercial teams

Following on from its upfronts last month, Val Morgan Digital (VMD) has added eight hires across its commercial and editorial teams.

The hires include Angela Law, who was previously editor for Popsugar UK, who has taken up the position of commercial content and shopping editor for Popsugar Australia, Thrillist and The Latch. Law has also held roles at Pedestrian Group, Contiki and Urban List.

On the hires, VMD publisher Amanda Bardas said: “The calibre of the talent we’ve recruited is incredibly strong, with each new member bringing diverse knowledge and experience across TV, digital, print and radio.

“We know that the key to a thriving business is the people. These exciting new hires are exactly what we needed to continue building Val Morgan Digital and executing on our big plans for 2022.”

The other seven hires include Allison Charles as senior account manager from Pacific Magazines, where she was group sales manager.

Having joined as lifestyle editor at Popsugar Australia and The Latch, Sangeeta Kocharekar joined in July from News Corp Australia, where she had held the title of commercial content editor at Escape and Delicious.

Previously creative producer at Junkee, Alana Young has joined VMD as gaming producer.

Kaitlan Fletcher has joined as agency partnership manager from Fabulate, where she had held the title of account manager. Katie Taylor has also become agency partnerships manager, previously she was on contract at Sport Entertainment Network on contract for partnerships.

Kevin Armendariz has joined VMD as agency partnerships executive and Basmah Qazi has joined as entertainment producer.

Bardas continued: “One of our key objectives this year was to extensively broaden our presence both commercially and editorially across Melbourne, and through our new hires we’ve been able
to achieve this goal.”

VMD managing director Brian Florido added: “Over the past year, the suite of Val Morgan Digital’s brands have gone through a wave of exponential growth through large scale client wins and new initiatives. We’ve been incredibly lucky to come out of multiple waves of the pandemic expanding our business, our team, and our digital presence across the market.”

VMD had previously revealed the editorial team for Popsugar at the start of this year.
