Vale, Fake Stephen Conroy

Fake Stephen Conroy, a Twitterer who built a devoted following with satirical postings in the voice of Australia’s digital minister, is no more.

conroy-twitterFake Conroy, who began posting late last year, built a devoted following on Twitter, with his comedic take on the shortcomings of the government’s plans for Internet filtering.

“Anything is fair game. My fave is filtered coffee! Everything is better filtered!”

Widespread speculation about Fake Conroy’s identity followed with digital agency Amnesia publishing a list of suspects.

But, the SMH reported this afternoon  that he has outed himself as Telstra staffer Leslie Nassar. His presumably final message reads: “leslienassar@me.com — later folks”.
