Vale Nelson Mandela: the world mourns – the newspaper front pages
Today the world mourns the death of one of the most significant figures of the 20th Century.
Here is collection of the newspaper front pages from around the world paying tribute to anti-apartheid leader.
Of particular note are the front pages of the Metro Newspaper in London and next week’s cover of The New Yorker.
Both publications went with ‘a less is more’ approach and recognised that some events don’t need words.
Some really good…and some really crap…front page designs there. Of all the photos to choose, how can The Irish Times thing this one is best to represent Mandela?!

Madiba was without doubt the greatest human being who lived during my lifetime, 74 years. I doubt we will ever see his like again.
Most covers show due respect to Nelson Mandela and are tastefully restrained.
The most tawdry has to be the one where news of his passing is sandwiched between “win a VIP trip to the panto” and the offer for a 65 Euro dinner.
