Viewers stay tuned for Pakistan battering

Australia’s dominant performance in the first test against Pakistan helped Nine win the ratings battle on Friday.

The evening session of the game, which is taking place at The Gabba in Brisbane, averaged 905,000 metro viewers, the second most watched program of the day.

Viewers watched Pakistan collapse from 43-1 to 67-8 during the memorable day’s play.

Meanwhile, the most watched program was Seven News, which rated 938,000.

Thanks to the cricket, Nine easily won the day’s ratings with a 25.2% share of the free-to-air viewing audience. Seven averaged 19.6%. ABC was third with 11%, ahead of Ten’s lacklustre 9.8%.

Meanwhile, the breakfast battle ended with a dead heat between Nine’s Today and Seven’s Sunrise, with both shows averaging 306,000 viewers.

With one day left of the ratings week, Seven and Nine are both on a cumulative Sunday to Friday share of 18.6% each.
