Virginia Pracht joins Ogilvy Melbourne as head of strategy
WPP’s Ogilvy Melbourne has appointed Virginia Pracht as its head of strategy.
Pracht left Cummins&Partners quietly in February, having spent four years as the firm’s Melbourne based planning director.
In 2011 Pracht was a strategist at Powered by Nine for just over two years.
Returning to Ogilvy after her three year stint at Ogilvy Frankfurt in 2005, Pracht said it felt like returning home.
“Ogilvy was the first agency that ever employed me and then the first agency I worked for in Australia. It’s a great place, with great people, exciting clients and exciting growth – with more to come,” Pracht said in a statement.
Pracht takes the head of strategy role following Gavin MacMillan’s promotion to managing partner in May last year.
Gavin MacMillan, managing partner at Ogilvy Melbourne, said in a statement: “We are thrilled to welcome Virginia back to Ogilvy as our Head of Strategy. She is a wonderful planner who defines problems with precision and sees solutions with fresh perspective. Her experience and leadership adds considerable weight to our agency’s IQ.”
In other appointments, Ogilvy has also hired Dominic Counahan as a strategy planner.
Counahan also joins the agency from Cummins&Partners where he was a strategy planner.
The trio later launched a new creative agency Thinkerbell, which just appointed the former OMD MD, Margie Reid, as its managing director.
The exodus continues. Great for profitability of the owner but what is going on there?

@ yes mumbrella…
Eight staff perhaps, but we aren’t talking about eight Account Executives, most have been key personnel.
Whether you like it or not, the departures from your (I assume) agency are of interest to the the industry.

After almost four years at cummins&partners I left. Something that happens all the time in adland. I left not even to go to another agency, but to fulfill my dream of a trip around the world. So no leaving quietly. Just leaving. And now starting a new, exciting job.
