Visit Victoria’s communications and media manager Emma Watts departs
Victoria’s state tourism, business and events agency, Visit Victoria, has seen its communications and media manager, Emma Watts, depart after three years in the role.
Posting to LinkedIn, Watts said she was “leaving to take a risk” and “explore the world of freelancing and small business”.
Visit Victoria’s latest campaign ‘A Twist at Every Turn’
Watts joined Visit Victoria in October 2014 and took on the role to “develop and implement the organisation’s destination communications and consumer public relation functions”.
Before joining Visit Victoria, Watts was the head of marketing and communications at Wesley Mission Victoria before the role was made redundant one year later.
Watts has also spent time at businesses including RSPCA, Museum Victoria, Holden and AAMI.
In September Visit Victoria made a series of hires in the communications department employing Matt Cugley as its head of strategic communications, Cody Lynch as a communications and media manager of major events and Chelsea Collins as a communications and media executive.
Watts made no further comment about her departure to Mumbrella.
Abigail Dawsom may consider herself a journalist but I’m certain that reviewing someone’s LinkedIn profile and then writing a story is more “an opinion piece”.
Why didn’t you actually contact Ms Watts for comment or even clarification?
Perhaps you’re better suited to tabloids?

Hi Simone,
Thanks for the feedback.
I reached out to Emma earlier today and she had no formal comment or clarification to make. I will update the story to reflect this. As it stands though, this article is factual, and based on Emma’s own announcement on her public LinkedIn profile – so there is no need to move it to the opinion section.
Thanks,
Abigail – Mumbrella
