The Voice improves but can’t topple House Rules as Masterchef dominates demos

The second live show of The Voice picked up 50,000 metro viewers on the previous show but could not topple Seven’s improving home renovation show House Rules, on a reality TV dominated Sunday night.

House Rules managed 1.084m viewers at 7:00pm ahead of The Voice’s 1.035m, leaving Ten’s Masterchef at 7:30pm in third on 895,000 viewers, although the cooking show cleaned up in the demos, winning the 16-39 and 18-49 age groups and coming second to Nine News in the 25-54 category, according to OzTAM overnight metro ratings.

News dominated the evening with Nine’s 6:00pm bulletin grabbing 1.338m ahead of Seven’s 1.285m, and that helped Nine take the audience share crown with 23.4% audience share, while Seven had 20.5% and Ten was third with 12.6% ahead of ABC’s 11.1%.

Nine’s 60 Minutes, pushed to 9:00pm after The Voice, managed 759,000 viewers to topple Seven’s Sunday Night which had 727,000 viewers from 8:45pm.

ABC’s best show was Grand Designs which had 778,000 viewers, and Doctor Thorne which achieved 682,000 at 8:30pm.
