The Voice Kids tops Sunday’s ratings for Nine
Nine’s mid series spin-off of The Voice Kids has held up well in the ratings, delivering 1.7m metro viewers, making it Sunday’s most watched show.
The result – an increase on last Sunday’s 1.6m viewers for the main The Voice show – vindicates Nine’s unusual programming move of airing a spinoff while the main series is still on the air.
The Voice Kids was top among all people, along with the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics, according to preliminary overnight metro figures from OzTAM.
Nine said that the show peaked at 2m metro viewers, and with regional numbers included averaged 2.2m viewers.
Seven’s reality renovation contest House Rules was most watched among 16-39 year olds and second in all people with 1.5m viewers.
Viewer tastes across the capital cities also varied, with The Voice Kids top in Sydney and Melbourne, while House Rules won in Brisbane and Perth.
Meanwhile Seven’s period drama A Place To Call Home, which will reportedly be dropped after this series, faded on last week, rating 918,000.
Ten’s Masterchef fell away after a week of strong ratings driven by the guest appearance of Marco Pierre White. It dropped from 1m last Sunday to 863,000 last night. The show was fourth in its timeslot, beaten by Nine and Seven’s reality contests along with ABC1’s Grand Designs.
In the news and current affairs battle, Seven News (1.4m) was just ahead of Nine News on 1.3m. Ten Eyewitness News rated 493,000. Seven News was also Adelaide’s most watched show.
And Seven’s Sunday Night outrated Nine’s 60 Minutes by 1.2m to 1m.
Despite The Voice Kids topping the ratings, Seven won the night with a share of 25.5%, ahead of Nine’s 23%. Ten came in third with a share of 12.6%, just ahead of ABC1’s 11.9%.

Until you give a state by state break up of the figures the national fugures mean nothing. Seven relies on the smaller markets of Adelaide and Perth to get an overall win for their shows. Nine consistently wins in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney where revenue really counts.

Im not involved or particularly interested in the TV ratings, but im intrigued by the concept that only Bris Melb Syd revenue counting.
Do the consumers and viewers in the other states use different dollars?
If we assume that 1 million in Bris/Syd/melb watch 9 and spend a dollar each on advertised product = 1 Million dollars……. is that different to 1.2 million watching in Bris/Syd/Melb/Hob/Adel/Per/Dar who also spend a dollar on the advertised product? = 1.2 million dollars
but that doesnt count coz the Adel/Per/Dar/ Hob dollars are only worth 80 cents?
