Volunteering Unplugged project reaches out to young Aussies
Some of Australia’s leading bloggers have been persuaded to join a campaign to champion the value of doing volunteeer work.
The Volunteering Unplugged blog has launched today on Seek’s Volunteer section to coincide with National Volunteer Week. One of the aims is to reposition the concept of volunteering as being attractive to young people, rather than something that any older people do.
The project seeks out inspiring volunteering stories.
Seek Marketing Director Helen Souness said the idea of Volunteering Unplugged was to use social networking to make it easier for those interested in volunteering to share their experiences. She said: “We hope this new tool will inspire many more young people to take up volunteering.”
Various bloggers have already contributed their own stories.
Strategic comms agency Naked has been working on the project. The Volunteering Unplugged blog features a contribution from managing partner Adam Ferrier arguing the positive psychological benefits of volunteering.
Great use of the social media channel. You have a new experience. Get people to try it and write about it. Simple.

Its a great idea. Volunteering is apparently on the rise, looks like the “Me Generation” is being replaced by the “We Generation”.
