‘Want to live at the speed of Bolt?’: Olympian explodes in Optus network capability push

Optus is continuing its partnership with Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt, in a new ad promoting the network’s speed.

A 30-second ad poses the question, ‘Ever wondered what life is like at the speed of Bolt?’ before showing him sprinting, interspersed with shots of jet planes, super-charged snails and various explosions.

The video spot also uses cartoon animations integrated with clips of Bolt dancing and running, including love hearts emerging out of a phone and an illusion which sees Bolt blow up.

Created by The Works, the latest campaign builds on Optus’ ongoing relationship with Bolt, who spear-headed the ‘Relentless’ campaign series last year.

An Optus spokesperson said in a statement: “Last year Optus engaged Usain Bolt alongside a number of athletes as the face of the ‘Relentless Improvement’ network campaign. We were pleased with how well the campaign resonated with customers, and have continued our relationship into a second campaign that will encompass network and product marketing.

“Optus engages a number of agencies to work collaboratively on its wide-range of multi-channel campaigns.”

A series of five-second spots has also been released.

The campaign will run across digital, print, television, social and out of home.
