The announcement:

Voice of the Customer specialist Watermelon is delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Burgess as managing director of its Sydney office.

“This strategic move signals our commitment to expanding Watermelon’s presence in Australia,” said Watermelon CEO Mark Squires. “We’ve been operating in Australia since 2015, delivering large-scale VoC programmes across the banking and FMCG sectors, and bringing Sam on board will be instrumental in helping to drive the next phase of our growth.”

Sam will oversee the company’s operations, growth strategy, and client relationships across the region. He joins Watermelon at a pivotal time, with the company having recently launched its proprietary CX software Canvas.

“Watermelon’s combination of agility, state-of-the-art technology, and fair pricing really stood out to me, and from personal experience, I know there are huge opportunities for growth in the Australian market,” said Sam. “I’m looking forward to applying my experience and collaborating with the wider Watermelon team to deliver innovative solutions that drive meaningful impact and help clients stay ahead.”

Sam comes to Watermelon from Qualtrics, where he headed up the Research Services Advisory team for the APJ region. Prior to that, Sam held director level roles at global research agencies Ipsos CX and Nielsen IQ.

Mark added, “We are so excited to welcome Sam to the Watermelon family. With his experience of the local market, we know he is the perfect person to help us achieve our goal of expanding Canvas globally, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional value for new and existing clients.”
