Wayne Schwass’ mental health and wellbeing podcast launches on PodcastOne

Former AFL star, Wayne Schwass, has launched a new podcast series, PukaUp, available on PodcastOne.

The announcement:

Today former AFL legend and mental health crusader, Wayne Schwass announced his new original podcast series PukaUp is now available on PodcastOne.com.au and the PodcastOne app.

The podcast sees Wayne talking to well-known people and leaders about their experience of mental health and emotional wellbeing issues or their work in their chosen fields.

In the first episode Wayne talks to former Prime Minister, Julia Gillard in her capacity as the recently appointed Chair of beyondblue. Julia talks about a range of issues including; the legacy of Jeff Kennett in establishing an organisation to raise awareness and increase action in the area of mental health, the impact on her of her father’s profession as a psychiatric nurse and the organisation’s future focus on suicide and building resilience among young people.

In the second episode, Wayne interviews John Longmire, Coach of the Sydney Swans.  They talk about the style of managing player’s personal issues in the days when they played at North Melbourne together as well as today’s different approach to coaching teams and management of players and their emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Later episodes in the twelve episode series will feature Libby Trickett, Osher Günsberg, Kyle Vander Kuyp, Caitlin Thwaites, Pat McGorry, Preston Campbell, Danny Frawley and Will McMahon & Woody Whitelaw.

Announcing his podcast, Wayne said, “I’m incredibly passionate about mental health and this podcast will help to normalise these conversations by talking with inspiring people who have overcome their own challenges and live a successful life professionally and personally as well as leaders of industry who understand the importance and value of mental health and why it’s become such an important focus in their chosen fields”.
