Weber Shandwick hires Carrie Cousins to lead Samsung account

PR agency Weber Shandwick has hired Carrie Cousins to head its Samsung Account.

Karey McDonald has also been appointed to a senior consultancy role.

SYDNEY, Australia, 03 May, 2010 — Weber Shandwick is further strengthening its relationship with Samsung Electronics Australia following two recent appointments; Carrie Cousins (nee Ponder) has joined as Account Supervisor and Kasey McDonald has been appointed Senior Consultant. Cousins has already begun working in the Sydney office taking day to day leadership of the Samsung team, while McDonald starts on May 17.

Cousins, who will report to Weber Shandwick’s Senior Account Director Sally Thompson, has worked in both New York and Sydney across consumer technology, enterprise technology, B2B and corporate affairs sectors. Specifically, Cousins’ experience is derived from driving communications strategies for various Microsoft Australia business groups, including Microsoft’s Mobile Communications, Corporate Affairs and Citizenship businesses. Cousins successfully executed a number of Microsoft’s most important international and local events, including Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference (PDC), Imagine Cup, Australian Partner Conference and REMIX.

Most recently, Cousins worked on the Sony Electronics business in Australia and was responsible for day-to-day management of Sony’s BRAVIA LCD TV, VAIO notebook, audio and video product groups.

Cousins is charged to further strengthen Samsung’s reputation as the number one provider of consumer electronics in Australia across the AV, Mobile, IT, White Goods and Corporate divisions.

In addition, Weber Shandwick Australia is also introducing ex-journalist Kasey McDonald to the Samsung fold. McDonald hails from Porter Novelli Australia, however previously she worked as an Editor at several magazines including Who, InStyle, and Home Beautiful.
