Weber Shandwick to handle PR for Hotfrog
Reed Elsevier’s online directory business Hotfrog has called in public relations agency Weber Shandwick to boost the brand’s profile in an increasingly competitive sector.
Hotfrog, which was founded in Australia but is now in 36 countries, is focused on small business listings.
Weber Shandwick won a competitive pitch for the global account. The agency’s teams in the UK, US and Australia will work on the account, which will be managed out of Weber Shandwick’s Sydney office.
The first major task is PR around the move of the directory’s UK domain from hotfroguk.co.uk to hotfrog.co.uk after the company managed to buy the simpler URL.
Hotfrog is a major contributor to the revenues of Reed in Australia, which also owns business titles such as Australian Doctor, Travel Weekly and B&T.
David Catterall, MD of Hotfrog, said: “For the past five years, hotfrog has been on a continuous upward trajectory, with now more than 61 million listings worldwide in 36 countries. Hotfrog decided the time had come to partner with a PR agency with proven global capabilities, but also strong SMB and consumer experience to help us meet our business and marketing objectives of continued growth and impact for both our business and our SMB customers. Weber Shandwick’s experience and team impressed us with their detailed, strategic response to our brief and we’re confident they will provide the strategic counsel and creativity needed to drive our business forward.”
Lisa Popplewell, GM of Weber Shandwick Australia, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Hotfrog as the company enters such an exciting phase of growth.”
On a slight tangent, do Weber still do the PR for MySpace?

Cheers,

Weber they dont have to deal with (edited under Mumbrella’s comment moderation policy) anymore so Hotfrog might have half a chance.
