Webjet Group New Zealand gains new general manager
Webjet Group has named Taras Lee as general manager in New Zealand to lead its Cars and Motorhomes rental brands.
The announcement:
Taras Lee has been appointed general manager of Webjet Group New Zealand, overseeing strategy and operations for the Group’s Cars and Motorhomes rental brands. Amid rising global demand for self-drive holidays and tech-enabled travel, he will focus on driving commercial growth, enhancing customer experience, and expanding the brands’ footprint across key markets.
Taras brings over a decade of senior leadership experience in international e-commerce, with expertise in digital business development, vendor management, and scaling high-performing, multinational teams. He most recently served as director – non-food at zooplus SE, Europe’s leading online pet retailer, where he was responsible for leading the creation of brands and product portfolios across multiple markets with a focus on driving profit and customer acquisition for the business.
Earlier, Taras led Domino’s Pizza’s successful operational expansion into Germany, following his tenure with the brand in the U.S. Now moving from Europe to Auckland with his family, he’s excited to apply his global perspective to support Webjet Group’s continued success in New Zealand.
“There’s huge potential in the motorhome and car rental market here in New Zealand and worldwide,” said Taras Lee. “Success will come from building stronger brand connections and delivering seamless digital journeys. Webjet Group New Zealand’s clear vision and solid foundation set us apart, and I’m excited to collaborate with the team to drive innovation and fuel our next chapter of growth.”
“After an extensive global search, we are thrilled to welcome Taras in this role. He brings a wealth of international e-commerce experience, sharp commercial instincts, and a deep understanding of digital customer behaviour. This makes him ideally placed to help scale our Cars and Motorhomes rental brands, sharpen our competitive edge, and explore new applications of AI across the business to drive growth across markets and customer segments,” said Katrina Barry, CEO and managing director of Webjet Group.
His appointment comes as the recently demerged Webjet Group accelerates its strategic growth plans, aiming to double Total Transaction Value (TTV) by 2030.
