‘We’re very much focused on what’s ahead’: New M&C Saatchi ANZ chief creative talks agency’s future
After months of staff changes and movement, the chief creative officer of M&C Saatchi ANZ says the agency is now set for the opportunities that lie ahead.
In his first interview since joining M&C Saatchi last November in which he replaced Cam Blackley, Steve Coll joined Mumbrella’s one-on-one podcast to discuss a range of topics, including the recent happenings at the group.
After Blackley left last October, M&C announced some redundancies in December, followed by the exit of chief strategy officer Emily Taylor in February, and some senior departures, including group creative director Sharon Edmondston.
“I think there’s so many businesses at the moment that are looking at the future and thinking ‘What skill sets do we need? What kind of approaches do we need and what talent do we need to be able to face the changes that are coming, some challenges that are coming, and then most importantly, the opportunities that are coming’,” Coll told host Neil Griffiths.
That’s the agency’s future. With it, the future is the same as the present. Without it, M&C Australia will join the multiple Asian operations that have been closed down in the past year. Which would be tragic.
