When radio pranksters become the prankees

Fitzy and Wippa have been established in the Sydney radio market for over a decade now. They’ve got a loyal audience on Nova 96.9 breakfast, and as you’d imagine, are pretty confident in the job after all these years.

Usually the ones behind the mic, and usually the ones putting together the pranks (with newsreader Matt De Groot a common prank target), the pair were recently conducting job interviews for a new video producer when they got more than they bargained for.

‘Dave’ arrived for an interview and kicked-off straight away by pointing out how rich Fitzy and Wippa were, telling them they’re complacent and lazy, and telling Wippa he’s fat. He also suggested they might be too old to understand TikTok and need to dance more on the platform or some pole dancing content.

Wippa, usually a cool head, gets angrier and angrier, as Fitzy just giggles in the background. Perhaps a sign of how each of them deals with stressful situations.

Of course, Dave wasn’t actually an interview prospect, he was a plant from the sales team, and the whole interview was fake.

Though it might be worth Fitzy and Wippa taking some of Dave’s ideas about TikTok on board. Dr Mumbo notes that the duo have just over 1,300 followers on the platform. By way of comparison, their Sydney FM breakfast competition Kyle and Jackie O have over 380,000 followers.
