Whimn.com.au launches ‘Power Women 2020’ series ahead of International Women’s Day

Ahead of International Women’s Day, Whimn.com.au is releasing its ‘Power Women 2020’ series, profiling 25 women including Masterchef judge Melissa Leong; DJ, author and podcaster Flex Mami; journalist Nina Funnell; and independent MP Zali Steggall.

The announcement:

News Digital Networks Australia’s leading digital women’s network, With Her In Mind Network, joins the #EachforEqual call for a more gender equal world in support of International Women’s Day on 8 March, 2020.

From today whimn.com.au will release their Power Women 2020 series. Revealing the next generation of Power Women, the series will profile 25 of the brightest names of the future and celebrate their achievements.

whimn.com.au editor Eliza Cracknell said: “We know that there are many ways to feel powerful, that’s why this week on whimn.com.au we launch our second annual Power Women profile series.

“Featuring 25 of Australia’s next gen power players, the series looks at how these women choose to use their power to make the lives of Australian women and girls better. Whether it’s through a single act, adversity, influence, politics, self-acceptance, humour, or cooking a meal – there are so many unique and sometimes unorthodox paths to power and ways to use it.

“We are a young site, three on International Women’s Day, and our goal with this series is to give a platform to new voices and offer diverse stories you might not have heard before as well as push for equality.”

whimn.com.au will host a reader event in Sydney on Friday 6 March to launch the Power Women series. The afternoon will see four of the featured Power Women share their stories and advice on power and what we can learn.

Guests will hear from food and travel writer Melissa Leong, who in 2020 will be MasterChef’s first-ever female judge; Flex Mami, who is not only a DJ, author and podcaster, but also, in her own words, a professional opinion-haver; journalist and #LetHerSpeak campaigner Nina Funnell; and Zali Steggall, the independent MP who ousted Tony Abbott at the most recent federal election.

Proceeds of ticket sales will be donated to the charity End Rape on Campus. EROC believe that all people should be entitled to education free of sexual violence. They work to prevent sexual violence and – when it occurs – to support survivors to keep them engaged with their education.

With Her In Mind Network has established itself as Australia’s leading digital women’s network with a monthly unique audience of more than 4.2 million*. WHIMN brings together the collective strengths of category leading parenting site kidspot.com.au; category leading health site bodyandsoul.com.au; and whimn.com.au, celebrating women with positive and empowering content.
