WhiteGREY hires M&C Saatchi’s Lee Simpson as CEO
WhiteGREY has appointed M&C Saatchi’s managing partner, Lee Simpson, as its CEO to replace Miles Joyce who left the agency last week.
Joyce abruptly departed the agency just weeks after Paul Worboys, previously the joint-CEO with Joyce, resigned citing family reasons.
The new CEO of the WPP-owned agency, Simpson, was previously the managing partner at M&C Saatchi Australia for almost two years.
In 2007, Simpson worked at Grey London as its business director for three years.
Late last year M&C Saatchi also saw its general manager, Mim Haysom, exit the agency while in January the agency’s ECD, Michael Canning departed to start a “personal venture”.
Mike Connaghan, WPP AUNZ CEO, said Simpson is a well respected team player who understands the need to blend innovation and creativity together.
“He also has a clear passion for strategy and champions creativity across all work. He understands both the Grey culture and the WPP Group and our focus on collaboration and horizontality, so we’re excited to have him on board as the agency moves into a new phase of business, staff and client development.”
Simpson added: “Unearthing cultural, category and customer insights to drive creative communications, products and services is something that drives me as a leader, and an approach I hope to bring to this new role. The agency has an outstanding team and strong client roster and I’m looking forward to building both even further.”
In May last year, The White Agency and Grey Group Australia merged to form one agency, WhiteGREY.
So I guess that answers the question as to whether or not the previous guys were pushed out or not?
