WhiteGrey Melbourne shifts in new managing director

WPP agency WhiteGrey has appointed a new managing director for its Melbourne office, after national MD Katie Firth departed for DDB Group in October last year.

Magdalina Triantafyllidis joins WhiteGrey in the role, moving across from WPP’s bespoke full-service Ford offering in Australia and New Zealand, where she was also managing director.

Triantafyllidis will run the Melbourne office

Triantafyllidis has experience working with brands including University of Melbourne, Jeep, Kathmandu, HP, Mercedes-Benz, New Balance, Honda and Tourism NT in her career to date spanning agencies Wunderman Thompson, Cummins & Partners, Clemenger BBDO and CHE.

CEO of WhiteGrey, Lee Simpson said: “We are excited to welcome Magda to the WhiteGrey team. As a modern thinker who has a track record across creative, media and technology, her experience aligns perfectly with our model here at Whitegrey. Most importantly, she is a great person who builds diverse teams and strong cultures. I can’t wait to see her bring the best of WhiteGrey to the Melbourne market.”

Triantafyllidis also said: “WhiteGrey has a compelling model and fantastic talent delivering it. I’m excited to join a team with strong momentum for what is shaping up to be a big year for the agency.”

The agency noted that across her career, she has been won awards across media, creative and effectiveness, while also being recognised with a Women in Leadership Award.

The WhiteGrey Melbourne leadership team will now include Triantafyllidis alongside ECD Joe Hll, Melbourne client leader, Anusha Subeather, and Nomfundo Msomi, who was also recently hired as head of strategy in Melbourne.

She begins the role next month.

WhiteGrey secured the creative and brand account for NAB’s UBank at the close of 2021.

WhiteGrey was asked about a similar appointment in the Sydney office, and said “any further leadership team appointments will be announced in due course”.
