Whybin\TBWA Melbourne shakes up executive and creative teams
Whybin\TBWA Melbourne has undergone major shake-up with two longstanding executives and one of its founding creative teams exiting the agency.
The move is the first significant shift since the announcement that agency founder, regional creative director and chairman, Scott Whybin, was leaving in April.
Leaving the agency is planning director Paul Mayes, business director David Clements, and creative directors Michael Syme and Peter Kirwan.
Whybin\TBWA CEO, Paul Bradbury, confirmed the four agency veterans were leaving.
“Paul, David, Michael and Peter were long-standing members of the Whybin team and we thank them enormously for their contributions over the past 20 plus years,” Bradbury told Mumbrella.
Mayes, former vice chairman and planning director for TBWA in London, first joined the agency shortly after it was founded in 1995 when he came to Australia to help with a pitch and was convinced by Scott Whybin to stay.
Clements has clocked up almost 20 years at the agency, first as general manager of Whybin Melbourne’s digital agency, Tequila, before being promoted to business director at the agency.
Copywriter Michael Syme and art director Peter Kirwan both worked with Scott Whybin at the Campaign Palace and moved across to the agency shortly after it was founded.
The duo have had a hand in many of Whybin\TBWA’s award winning campaigns, working closely with major clients including Nissan and ANZ Bank.
The departures mark the first major sign of change at the agency since Whybin stepped down in April, 21 years after launching TBWA’s outpost in Australia.
This is like the ship leaving the sinking rat.
