Whybins and Mindshare win Tourism New Zealand

Whybin\TBWA has emerged the winner of the marketing review for Tourism New Zealand. Mindshare has been reappointed to the media account.

The agencies pipped three other agency pairings – Publicis Mojo and Starcom, Clemenger BBDO and PHD, and Droga5 and Ikon.

Whybins was selected because it is a “true trans-Tasman agency” and because of its strengths in brand stewardship, digital, world class creative and integration, according to Justin Watson, the tourism body’s GM of marketing.

The appointment will see Whybins continue to work with the ‘100% Pure New Zealand’ line, which is regardly as one of the strongest tourism marketing platforms in Asia Pacific.

The review did not affect Tourism New Zealand’s PR account, which is held by Hill & Knowlton.

“Tourism New Zealand requires the very best marketing talent, working in the most effective way and with the right resources, to support our goal of increasing visitor numbers and tourism value to New Zealand”, said Watson.

“Having the right Australasian agency structure and resources in place will enable us to effectively and efficiently manage our number one priority market of Australia”.

The RFP process was led by Colin Wilson-Brown at The Clinic, and attracted 25 submissions from agencies, according to TNZ.
