Wicked Campers’ drug dealer themed van found in breach of Ad Standards

Infamous rental van company Wicked Campers has again been reprimanded by the ad watchdog, this time for a van which says “Weed is not a drug. It’s a plant. I’m not a dealer. I’m a florist.”

Posting to Ad Standards a complaint noted the ad is “promoting” cannabis use and insinuating “that it is okay to break the law”.

Noting that Wicked Campers didn’t provide a response to the complaint, the Ad Standards ruling found the van makes light of being a drug dealer by suggesting the occupation is the same as being a florist.

“Many members of the community would consider dealing an illegal substance to be unsafe and that it could result in negative health outcomes,” Ad Standards concluded upholding the complaint.

Since the Ad Standards launched 20 years ago, Wicked Campers has had its vehicles banned over 80 times.

Tasmania, ACT and Queensland have now already passed laws to deregister Wicked Vans if the company does not abide by ASB rulings.

In March, Wicked Campers was banned by Ad Standards for the 79th time.
