Wil Anderson to step in as host for Triple M breakfast

Triple M has snagged a big, albeit temporary, replacement for its vacant Melbourne breakfast slot.

Following news that Marty Sheargold will step down from the role at 105.1 to move to afternoons, Southern Cross Austereo has confirmed that popular Aussie comedian Wil Anderson will take over hosting duties alongside Collingwood premiership player, Daisy Thomas, and Triple M mainstay, Rosie Walton.

The new show will kick off this Monday and run through to the end of the AFL season on Friday 4 October.

“I am a huge fan of Rosie, Daisy, and Triple M. I’m ready to take off the sub vest and help the team charge towards a run deep into the finals,” Anderson said.

“I reckon listeners are going to love what we’ve got ahead.”

Triple M Melbourne content director, Jay Mueller, added: “We are thrilled to have the expertise of Wil, Daisy and Rosie to guide Triple M Breakfast through to the end of the footy season. These are three fantastic people, passionate about radio, music, and footy, who will create a show Melburnians will absolutely love.”

Triple M has said a permanent breakfast show replacement will be announced “at a later date”.

This week’s Mumbrellacast looks at the Melbourne breakfast radio wars which have started to heat up in a big way since the introduction of Kyle & Jackie O into the market.
