Windows Live app passes 200,000 downloads

More than one million Australians have accessed Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail via their mobiles while its iPhone app has already hit 200,000 users, the company said today.

ninemsn announced today that its Windows Live Messenger iPhone application has been downloaded more than 200,000 times since its launch in Australia just five weeks ago, making it one of the most popular apps available in the country.

As of Monday 2nd August, the application had been downloaded 203,914 times.

ninemsn has also revealed that the number of Australians accessing Windows Live, including Hotmail and Messenger, on their mobile through the browse functionality passed the one million mark last month.

The improved browse functionality of Windows Live on mobile and availability of the Messenger iPhone application were announced last month and form part of significant changes to Windows Live, including Hotmail and Messenger, due for completion across all platforms by October 2010.

Windows Live is available on mobile browse and the Windows Live Messenger iPhone application is available for free from the Apple App Store.
