Women in Media announces inaugural GM

Women in Media Australia has announced the appointment of Kym Middleton as its inaugural general manager.

Middleton will step into the head role from next month, where she will lead the organisation “in its mission to foster gender equality and support women across all aspects of the media landscape”.

Middleton has worked at the Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism, ABC, SBS, The Ethics Centre, and Judith Neilson Institute for Journalism and Ideas. She will report to co-chairs Anita Jacoby AM and Victoria Laurie.

“I’m thrilled to join Women in Media at this important time as we move to represent more women in all facets of media, creating opportunities that empower them to network, enhance their skills, and attain career progression and well-deserved recognition,” she said.

Jacoby added: “Kym brings a wealth of media experience and industry skills to lead Women in Media in the next significant phase of our growth.

“With more than 6,400 members and growing, we’re delighted to welcome her onboard and look forward to a stellar year in 2024 and beyond.”
