Woolworths, Dettol and Cricket Australia to raise funds for community cricket

Woolworths and Dettol have joined forces with Cricket Australia to raise funds for community cricket, via the Woolworths Community Fund.

The announcement:

Throughout January 2023, Woolworths and Dettol will come together with Cricket Australia to help raise money for the Woolworths Community Fund (WWCF).

Twenty cents from the sale of each Dettol product sold at Woolworths supermarkets throughout January will be contributed to the Woolworths Community Fund, up to a maximum amount of $150,000.

Woolworths will also match Dettol’s contribution, making a maximum total contribution to the Woolworths Community Fund of $300,000.

Through the Woolworths Community Fund, over 16,000 cricketers across 500 programs have had the opportunity to access cricket in their community to date.

A donation of $300,000 will enable Cricket Australia to grow the program even further and provide cricket opportunities for participants who may not have access.

Woolworths head of community & sponsorships Sarah De La Mare said: “This is the perfect partnership to help support cricketers from all walks of life as they start or continue their journey with the game

“Not only does the WWCF focus on introducing kids to cricket who otherwise may not have the opportunity, it also promotes a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of fresh, healthy food – a strong focus for Woolworths as Australia’s Fresh Food People.”

Reckitt Health ANZ’s marketing director – Holly McCarthy said: “We’re incredibly proud to be helping kids find cricket through the Woolworths Community Fund. Dettol’s commitment to community cricket also encourages clubs to employ and educate players about hygiene protocols and products, offering trusted germ protection to players.

“Dettol plays an important role in helping to stop the spread of germs, so players, spectators and families can feel assured and more confident as they play community sport.”

Cricket Australia’s executive general manager, community cricket & capability James Allsopp said: “The WWCF is an outstanding joint initiative between Dettol, Woolworths and Cricket Australia which enables a free cricket program for kids who may not have had the chance to play our great game.

“Dozens of programs in remote and multicultural areas have benefitted enormously from the WWCF, with thousands of kids participating from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, Indigenous communities and of all abilities enjoying the program’s healthy lifestyle benefits.”

Woolworths has a deep commitment to community cricket through a range of programs including the Woolworths Community Fund, Woolworths Cricket Blast, and Woolworths Pick Fresh Play Fresh Round, all with the aim of encouraging the community to stay connected, fit and healthy.
