World Movies Secret Cinema postponed at last minute ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’

secret cinemaThe World Movies Secret Cinema event set to run tonight and over the weekend has been postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances”.

Attendees of tonight’s session received a text message at around 3.30pm alerting them to the event’s postponement despite receiving a message earlier in the day suggesting details on the event’s meeting point would be sent out.

There were due to be five sessions running from tonight over the weekend, after World Movies had promised in February the event would be returning to Sydney for an extended run, with a bigger and better secret location.

Spokesman Michael Morcos told Mumbrella the event was not cancelled but postponed, and said it is not due to the wet weather Sydney has experienced this week but rather due to an unforeseen issue with the “untouched” nature of the secret location of the event.

It is with absolute regret that World Movies Secret Cinema is postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. It is our commitment to bring our guests the most cutting-edge, ground-breaking movie experience, but sadly we cannot proceed with the screenings as scheduled at this time,” he said.

“We will be in touch with further information as it becomes available. We understand the inconvenience caused; please bear with us so we can present you with the most innovative event possible.”

In February Morcos said: “The venue this year is somewhere no one knows exists essentially, it’s somewhere that no one will have ever set foot in and its somewhere that’s never been used for anything, it’s really, really exciting. It’s just phenomenal, people are going to be really impressed with the venue we’ve found.”

The message on the Secret Cinema website reads:

“It is with absolute regret that World Movies Secret Cinema is postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

It is our commitment to bring you the most cutting-edge, ground-breaking movie experience, but sadly we cannot proceed with the screenings as scheduled at this time.

We will be in touch with further information as it becomes available. We understand the inconvenience caused; please bear with us so we can present you with the most innovative event possible.”
