World’s first Bluey Duck Cake Cafe to open in Sydney for limited time only

Bluey fans can step into the world of the beloved Heeler family with the launch of the Bluey Duck Cake Cafe — a one-of-a-kind pop-up experience inspired by the famous yellow duck cake — opening at Westfield Bondi, Sydney, from Saturday 11 October to Sunday 12 October 2025.

The announcement:

In a world-first, Bluey fans can step inside a one-of-a-kind cafe experience inspired by the famous yellow duck cake, when the Bluey Duck Cake Cafe opens its doors in Westfield Bondi, Sydney, from Saturday 11 October – Sunday 12 October 2025.

Inspired by the much-loved Duck Cake episode from Season 2 of Bluey – an affectionate nod to the iconic creation that first appeared in The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book – the Bluey Duck Cake Cafe brings to life the personality-packed cake that has captured the imaginations, hearts (and sweet tooths) of generations of families across Australia and now the world.

Cafegoers will be able to step inside the Heeler family kitchen, as well as Bluey’s backyard, and enjoy decorating their very own ‘Duckling’ cupcake – a mini version of the beloved duck cake. They will also have the chance to meet Bluey, creating special memories and rekindling nostalgia for one of Australia’s most cherished baking traditions.

Agnes Lee, the original creator of the baked creation, joined the celebration at the Bluey Duck Cake Cafe today for the official opening, alongside David McCormack (voice of “Bandit”), and a special appearance from Bluey and her sister Bingo.

Agnes, who lives in Sydney, invented the masterpiece in 1979 for The Australian Women’s Weekly when she was part of their Test Kitchen team.

Agnes Lee, creator of the duck cake, said: “When I first created this cake for The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book, I never imagined it would one day be featured in Bluey and rediscovered by a whole new generation of families around the world. It’s incredibly special to see how the show has brought new life to the cake, and to see the Bluey Duck Cake Cafe celebrate it in such a fun and creative way, for kids, parents, and grandparents alike.”

As the world’s first Bluey Duck Cake Cafe, this pop-up promises a joyful, hands-on experience that brings the legendary cake to life, as well as blending nostalgia with the playfulness and heart of Bluey.

Madeleine Santos, Head of Brands & Marketing, Brands & Licensing, BBC Studios ANZ, said: “The Bluey Duck Cake episode brought a beloved Aussie icon to life for a whole new generation, and we’re thrilled to take that one step further with the Bluey Duck Cake Cafe.

“The duck cake holds a special place in the hearts of many Australians, and now families and fans can experience it for real life – creating sweet memories together in a space inspired by the world of Bluey.”

David McCormack, voice of “Bandit,” said: “Awww, DUCK CAKE! Bluey is all about those memory-making family moments and the duck cake is pure Aussie nostalgia. It’s awesome to see something from the show leap off the screen and into real life for the kiddos (and big kids) to enjoy!”

Families can enter the ballot for tickets to the Bluey Duck Cake Cafe from Friday, 10 October. Entry is free, but spots are limited. To register, visit www.bluey.tv/duck-cake-cafe/
